Athens, GA (Nov 25, 2007) - I worked with Bill Pidto on the short lived Mizlou Sports News Network back in 1990. Always one of the nice guys, it did not hurt that he got his start in my hometown of Binghamton, NY at WBNG-TV. The following is a profile of Pidto as published by the ESPN Networks:

Bill Pidto, who joined ESPN2 for its October 1, 1993, launch, hosts ESPN2's NHL 2Night, a nightly 30-minute show devoted to hockey highlights and news which debuted in February 1995. Pidto also serves as an anchor for ESPN’s flagship sports news program SportsCenter and has hosted other ESPN/ESPN2 studio programming, including RPM 2Night, Baseball Tonight and college basketball. During the 1995 and 1996 seasons, he worked with Chris Berman and Tom Jackson on NFL PrimeTime.

Prior to joining ESPN2 as an anchor of SportsSmash updates, Pidto worked as a sports anchor for New England Cable News in 1992. Pidto also worked as a field producer for ESPN's Scholastic Sports America (1991-92), an anchor at Sports News Network (1990), a weekend sports anchor at WSTM-TV in Syracuse (1989) and a sports director at WBNG-TV in Binghamton, N.Y. (1987-89).

Pidto was born in New York on April 20, 1965 and raised from age seven through high school in Palo Alto, Calif. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology in 1987 from Cornell University. While at Cornell, Pidto was a color analyst for the university's basketball and football games at WHCU-AM in Ithaca, N.Y. In addition, he gave sports updates on WVBR-FM in Ithaca. Pidto is married.
