Athens, GA (Dec 11, 2007) - David Barron of the Houston Chronicle is reporting that Tom Hammond (pictured left) will be filling in for the ailing Bryant Gumbel on the NFL Network Thursday Night game this week. Eye on Sports Media noted that Gumbel sounded ill last week, and it appears that the illness is lingering. Gumbel might regret being sick for the game. The last time Hammond got a "one-time" gig, it was with NBC Sports for the Breeder's Cup many years ago.
